The Swedish division of E.ON, one of the world's largest privately owned energy companies, decided to convert the largest North European coal plant into a modern world-class power efficient natural gas plant. The huge project was implemented from 2006 till the opening in the autumn of 2009.
The exhibition project
E.ON needed an exhibition to inform employees and the public about the project during construction. It was combined with a more general exhibition on the history of energy supply and the future energy challenges.
It was a subtle underline of past and future to build the exhibition as a modern glass construction inside the old forge building in front of the power plant. The old hoist and the special wooden flooring were preserved as a contrast to the glass house.
The semi transparent double side glass construction gave a multitude of possibilities for installing displays, models, screens, and lighting effects in and on the long walls.
The exhibition is an integral part of E.ON's conference center.
